Planet Defense
NEWAbout Planet Defense
Planet Defense puts you in orbit around a planet you have to keep intact while asteroids close in from every direction. The circular geometry is what makes it distinctive. In a conventional shooter, threats arrive from a predictable side and you manage a front. Here there is no front. Danger approaches from all 360 degrees at once, and defending one arc means turning your back on another. The game is less about aim than about rotation management and deciding which threat you can afford to ignore for the next two seconds. Asteroids differ in size and speed, and the large ones break apart when hit rather than disappearing, which means an early shot at a big rock can leave you with several fast fragments instead of one slow mass. Knowing when to break something up and when to leave it is the strategic core. Late waves overlap deliberately, so there is no point at which the screen is clear and you can reset your position. The result is a game about sustained triage under pressure rather than precision shooting. Runs end when the accumulated small decisions leave one arc undefended a moment too long.
How to Play Planet Defense
- 1Rotate your defensive position around the planet with the arrow keys or by dragging.
- 2Fire outward at incoming asteroids before they reach the surface.
- 3Larger asteroids break into smaller, faster fragments when destroyed.
- 4Every impact damages the planet; enough damage ends the run.
- 5Waves increase in density and speed as you survive longer.

Tips & Strategy
- Do not destroy large asteroids early. Breaking one at distance gives the fragments time to spread across a wide arc; hitting it later keeps the pieces together.
- Prioritise by arrival time rather than by size. The closest threat is the one that ends the run, however small.
- Keep rotating even when one side looks clear. Standing still is how the opposite arc gets through.
- Fragments travel faster than their parent. Leave room to deal with the pieces before you commit to a shot.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I move away from the planet?
- No. You orbit at a fixed distance and rotate around it, which is the central constraint. Defending one side always means leaving another exposed.
- Why did destroying a big asteroid make things worse?
- Large asteroids split into faster fragments rather than vanishing. Destroying one far out lets the pieces spread over a wide arc, so timing the shot later is often better.
- Does the planet repair itself?
- No. Damage accumulates over the run, so early mistakes narrow your margin for the rest of the session.
